DORSET MAGAZINE ANALYSIS
FRONT COVER: The front cover of Dorset Magazine is layed out upon a main image containing a strong image. The text on the page has been placed around the subjects within the image and the background of the image has been blurred out and covered with text, emphasising the focused subjects within the picture. The page is bright and colourful with bold texts that decorate the page. Other features included on the page are small images and text boxes advertsing what features within the magazine.
WELCOME PAGE: Dorset Life's magazine contains a welcome page at the begining of the magazine featuring notes from the editor, names and faces of local contributors and magazine information such as advertising, subscriptions and editorial. The page is set out on a plain white background with various different types of black texts. Titles are set out in larger and bolder fonts while the main text body is smaller. Few images are used bu the main one is seen to be the image in the top right hand corner of the page. The image supports the editors note/introduction.
CONTENTS PAGE: Dorset Life's contents page is set out in a very similar format to the welcome page. It's set out on a white background with any text being in black or grey. More important text has been set out in black while descriptions and smaller areas of text have been put in a grey colour, clearly showing the difference between the two to readers. The contents title on the page has been displayed in a much larger font but still in the black colouring. The articles in which feature in the resr of the magazine have been placed down the left hand side of the page and then carried on towards the bottom right side. Various different images supporting the articles have been scattered about the page. All images are very bright and eye-catching but also have simple subjects.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD: The double page spread carries the same theme shown throughout the magazine. The black text is supported with the white plain background and various images. The theme throughout this magazine has been very effective on the previous pages but I feel as if this article could've been improved by re-designing the page. I feel that if more colour was added to the page with different fonts and background images, the page would become much more appealing to readers.
