Research: Analysis of a Student's work

Research
The research of this blog is set out and presented very well on the blog. The different research tasks are easy to find as the student has created links to the different areas at the top of the web page. The tasks that are featured on the blog are very detailed and are completed to a high standard as well as being presented in a range of formats. This is something in which I will look to re-create on my own blog in order to achieve the higher grades. Although all the research and planning tasks were completed to a high standard, I feel as if more research could've been completed and uploaded to the blog in order to give this student a better starting ground for when it came to the planning process.

Planning
Similar to the research stage, this students planning tasks are completed to a high standard, heavily detailed and presented well in various different formats. However, although the tasks that have been uploaded to the blog are excellent, there are very few. I feel like the planning process of this students work could've been improved even further by going deeper into the planning process. Things such as initial hand-drawn designs or font options could of been added. This would also make the construction of the magazine much easier as they would've been able to refer back to the previous tasks.

Magazine
The construction of the magazines front cover, contents page and double page spread were all documented on the students blog. The work that was completed on the blog was all of high standard but there were very few posts on the site. The student has documented how she has put together her pages and what she used to do so, but I feel like these posts could've been improved by adding more detail. Step by step posts could've been added, documenting the construction process every time the document was edited. This would've shown which areas were a success and what improvements or changes that may have been made during construction.

All of the final magazine pages were created to a high standard and carry a very authentic and professional feel. The theme in which the student created through colour schemes, font choices and images all worked together very well and were carried through her coursework linking it all together. This is something in which I want to recreate within my own work. The colour schemes and fonts chosen all worked well as they portrayed the country feel in which the student aimed to achieve. Her work was based around the theme of autumn in which was also reflected thought the choice of colour. All this was supported by a range of images that portrayed the theme of the magazine as well as being of high quality. The articles in which this student included within her magazine were very creative and fitted the theme of the magazine very well. Her main article displayed on the double page spread was of high quality and seemed enticing to readers of all ages. The layout of the magazine pages were also very professional and put together well. Hardly any white space was left on the pages and the compositions make up of images and text gave the magazine a creative and fun feel. Every area of the pages were thought about carefully and planned out well, resulting in a professional looking product.

Radio Advertisement and Billboard
The post explaining how the radio advertisements were created were very minimal. They covered the basics of how the audio tracks were put together and what application the student used, but again, I feel like this part of the blog could've been improved by adding step by step posts explaining each process that was made when putting together the advertisements. The posts containing information about how the billboard advertisement was  put together is again very similar and could be improved by adding more detail.

The final product of the billboard advertisement is of a very high standard and works extremely well. I believe that the font choices, colour scheme and images that are included on the advertisement fit well together and come together to create the country theme in which the student was aiming for. Although I like the billboard, I believe that the advertisement looked better before the tea stain effect was added. I believe that this makes the advertisement look less appealing as the colours have been dulled, making it less eye catching. I also think that it gives a totally different feel to the advertisement as it suddenly feels like it's being aimed towards an older generation. If the student is aiming her magazine towards younger generations, this is something in which I would consider.

The radio advertisement was also completed to a high standard and worked well. The dialogue and the background music put together created a great effect and atmosphere, resulting in a very professional and authentic feel. The sound clips were of good quality and everything was clear and concise.

Evaluation
This students evaluation was presented well in various different formats and was completed to a high standard. The posts that feature on the blog are very creative and are laid out well on the page. Despite this, the evaluation was completed with little detail and explanation. I feel as if the students work would of achieved higher levels if she went  further into evaluating her project.

What have I learned?
From completing this analysis of another students work, it has given me an insight into the type of product I am aiming to produce. Looking at this students work has allowed me to pick out strengths in someone else's work and how I can use those for inspiration towards my own project. It has also allowed me to pick out weaknesses, enlightening me on which aspects of my work shouldn't be overlooked and may need more attention when completing my coursework. Analysing this students work has also shown me a different blog, highlighting areas in which I should focus on and which areas that I complete well.
