ESSEX LIFE MAGAZINE ANALYSIS
FRONT COVER: The front cover of Essex Life is presented with a brightly coloured subject image, layered with various different texts including a header and article descriptions. The magazine cover is effective as the bright colours are eye catching and inviting to readers. The yellow writing placed upon the blue background works well together because of the forces of contrasting colours. The two compliment each other and ultimately seem brighter and more colourful. Although I believe this front cover is effective I believe that the subject image could be improved as the angle of the photograph seems awkward. I also believe that the image of the fox in the bottom right hand corner of the cover seems slightly out of place. Putting this image in a different area or sectioned off from the main image would've improved the overall look of the front cover.
INTRODUCTION PAGE: The introduction page for Essex life is made up of an editors note, how to find the magazine on social networking as well as editing and advertising information. The page is set out on a classic white back ground cover with black and blue text and a range of images. Any important text is set out in a red colour while titles and headings are in blue. The page works well as is effective as the colour scheme and images portray a very welcoming and calming feel. The page entices readers in, this is something in which I aim to recreate in my own magazine.
CONTENTS PAGES: Essex Life's contents are spread across two pages and carry the theme of the plain white pages with black and blue text. The contents of the magazine are scattered all over the pages under different subheadings such as 'Country Life' and 'Pure Taste'. The pages are also covered in various different images that support the articles advertised on the page. All images are of high quality and give off a very inviting and exciting feel. I like the way in which these pages are laid out as I believe the simple format is very effective and creates a good atmosphere for the magazine.
